fullsizeoutput_2afdRound two: calling the next Watipa scholars

The Watipa scholarship process and also the fundraising campaign for 2017 are both now open. This is exciting and also daunting, as we have a very ambitious fundraising target so that we can extend the life-changing opportunity of being part of the Watipa family and receiving educational support to more deserving young leaders.

You can help by donating, sharing the word through your networks, and encouraging others to to support the scholarship programme. 100% of the funds we receive go directly to support the young leaders in developing countries.

We have had the chance to look back on our work this year, and do some number crunching. So let’s talk numbers! Some of Watipa’s highlights from 2017 are:

Our reach
256 people were introduced to new ways of working, tools and resources, in areas such as quality of care, preventing stigma and discrimination in healthcare settings, safety and security, and social inclusion; across 3continents (Africa, Asia and the Caribbean) in 9 countries where we convened workshops.

Our work
36 people were interviewed, to inform 3 completed reports.
5 training curricula developed and revised, now ready for rollout and adaptation. Nineteen case studies were consolidated to document examples of innovative practice.

Our social impact
36 scholars have been supported, in 8 different countries £11,000 has been raised through the social enterprise model, a strong base from which to start our fundraising campaign – we have 1/3 raised already. We have raised this contribution from 2,585 hours of holistic and person-centred consultancy services provided.

Our governance
9 founding members (all women!), 12 trustees, 5 advisors, 36 scholars and a network of 20 consultants. organisation launched in Malawi, Mwatipasa and additional registration for Watipa as a charity England and Wales secured (number 1173178).

It’s been a busy year… and is about to get busier with the current scholarship applications and fundraising campaigns both now open! Please share these details widely through your networks.

We have started a new campaign #Watipa #Hope to promote the fundraising and next round of the Watipa scholarship programme. To get involved and support our campaign, you can:
