2024 has been a momentous year for Watipa.
- We brought together over 50 scholars and alumni for our first ever Annual General Meeting in-person in Malawi.
- We’ve established a “friends of Watipa” group and are in the process of recruiting the first alumni coordinator for the program.
- We’ve developed plans to launch a Social Impact Leadership Academy for Watipa alumni.
- We exceeded targets for our first online giving day in June. We’ve completely transferred all operations to be led from the mid North Coast of NSW in Australia.
We undertook an independent impact evaluation, with reviewed Watipa’s work 2017-2023. The report was conducted by Matthew Allen, a consultant with the Professional Impact Network of the Social Impact Hub – see here. In a nutshell, the evaluation showed that we are making a difference and achieving our objectives.
We need your help to sustain funding for the scholarship program, and help us to fund the new Social Impact Leadership Academy. This is part of a “Watipa plus” model, where we extend the mentorship and leadership support for alumni to really “pay it forward” in their communities once they have graduated.
Watipa scholars and alumni are incredible young leaders. They are already strong and inspiring role models in their communities. With more encouragement, curated learning opportunities, and extended leadership growth, we can amplify their efforts to have an even greater impact.
Join us to support these exceptional young leaders achieve the impact they wish to see in their communities.
